Possible 46re debacle.
So, I have a 2000 Ram 1500 5.2L RWD in which the 46RE transmission went(PK52119843AA 3289 1538), and I decided that replacing this transmission myself was within the scope of my abilities and provisions.
After I found what I determined(at the time) to be a suitable replacement 46RE transmission(PK52119845AB 1101 1482, it also still has the sticker with the barcodes on the top of it, which reads TPKTK1101C1482 845 P52119845AB AB, came with a torque conveter), I removed the old transmission and installed the replacement with no issues other than the entire start-to-finish experience being a process of near non-stop suffering and hardship, a seemingly never-ending series of defeats, obstacles and autozone receipts that shredded all but the last few frayed ends of sanity I had remaining.
The bellhousing-to-motor bolt pattern was the same, the oil pan shape was the same, all the connectors, including the neutral safety switch connected, the coolant lines pretty much lined up and screwed on without any bending or deformation of the lines necessary.
It was all going as expected(I'm currently at the point where I'm almost ready to reinstall the propeller shaft and exhaust and, at long last, put the front wheels back on the pavement)until I was reinstalling the torque converter dust cover and I noticed an inconsistency between the two transmissions that merited further discovery(aka had me asking myself, "Dude, am I f-ed here?"). I'm putting the dust cover on and I notice that this transmission's bellhousing has a big cutout at the bottom of it, and if installed as is, there'll be a huge 1.5" wide gap there across the bottom of the trans(where the two lowermost dust cover bolts would bolt to the trans) that exposes the torque converter to the elements. I then noticed that the place where the TV cable and shift linkage attaches didn't seem want to go back together correctly; it seemed like the shift rod and the spring for the TV cable weren't gonna work in this configuration. I could be wrong about that.
Sp basically, before I reinstall the driveshaft and exhaust and get this thing back on the ground, I'm wondering if the trans I have installed here is compatible with my vehicle, but I can't get enough information to be able to definitively determine that and would appreciate it greatly if someone who is more enlightened in this regard could confirm for me, am I f-ed or not f-ed?(pictures available)
Update from the future: For the service of posterity, Im posting to say that yes, it did work. It was compatible and now drives, however now I’m f*ing heated because I typed out this whole story just now only to hit post and find out that during the half hour or so that I spent typing it all that not only was it not “auto saving” like it said it was doing, but also that it logged me out. Lesson learned folks, skip on the details, the website can’t be trusted to properly keep you logged in for long enough to type everything. Holy crap, I can’t believe that just happened. Unbelievable.

I got it from a dude on Facebook marketplace who works at a shop, owner of the shop’s son I think. I nothing about what vehicle it came out of than “dodge ram 4x2”. I do know that it’s rebuilt. All I have is the identification numbers with which to figure out what it came out of. If I knew what it came out of, I probably wouldn’t be having this problem.

I should mention that the trans was advertised as a 46RE, and I bought it under that assumption, that it was what he said it was.
46RE went thru various changes over the years though, and they are not all compatible. If the trans has the provision for the VSS in the tailhousing, you will have an electronics mismatch with your 2000......
Sounds like the new transmission may be correct, but it may need some fine details worked through. Can you possibly post some photos to show some of the issues you're working through to help us understand/visualize things a bit better?
