The Stant SuperStat will now come in a Motorad box but I think it's still supposed to be constructed to a higher standard. Not much else you can do. If I were more in favor of govt regulation I'd wish Motorad was brought up on anti-trust and forced to break up like Ma Bell. But I'm not. The free market will eventually deal with them.

How's the heater in that truck? I'd have to imagine the heater core is clogged or nearly clogged.

Does anyone know what the torque specs are for the thermostat housing bolts?

I'm always leery of using a Tq wrench on those. I snug them up alternating tightening.,

I thought they were 5/16-18 so that's typically 22ft lbs? Or is 30? A web search would get you there.

But yeah, I'd get them moderately snug with a standard length (say ~8") 3/8" ratchet and call it good

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who gave me advice on changing out the water pump. Got it all back together a couple weeks back and no leaks. You guys are awesome.👍
