Default 5.9 magnum

i have a 98 ram 1500 4x4 5.9 magnum
and since i got it i really havent had any problems except one when i crank it it takes about 10 seconds to start and often it wont start until i hold it to the floor now i think it is flooding but i dont know how or why it had a new fuel pump and i looked at the injectors they dont leak so i just wanted to know is this common

Something is going on there. You shouldn't have to floor it to get it to start. You really need a decent scanner that will read live data.... See what the computer is seeing, and then might pinpoint your problem.

i go to ncc automotive school and when i first got it and took it in there just to play with it nothing serious because we didnt have time but while i wad in there we pulled it up on the autel scan tool and did a couple fuel test and cheeked fuel pressure and everything was good even the injectors but my instructor told me that it still could be the injectors i just wanted to come up here to see if it wad a common problem with these trucks thanks man

If your scanner will show you live data, see what engine coolant temp is, what intake air temp is, and what the throttle position is showing.

98’s are a mixed bag… mine was built right around the change to 98-1/2 and it doesn’t have EGR.

EGR went away in 96..... But, not sure when, or if... it came back. No clue if my 8.0 has it......
