So this might be a longshot, but I had a bit of a thought around the same time I had the leak I recently had to rearrange my spare tire in my bed, and I added bed box for my tools

Placement of the fuel pump I think that black regulator valve might be sitting where the bed rail support is in the front I’m sure this wouldn’t be a problem normally but both of my bed supports on that rail are rotted out so I don’t think it’s being supported properly

What’s the likelihood of this?

 

The fuel pump sits on top of the tank and a plastic collar screws onto the top of the tank to hold the fuel pump in the top of the tank. The regulator sits on top of the fuel pump and every one I've seen looks like it's made of stainless steel or chrome. The male fuel pump outlet nipple comes out of the side of it and the fuel line connects to it via a quick connector. If you have some rot in the front rails where the truck bed sits, I don't see that as an issue, however, try taking out the weight out of the bed and see if it makes a difference with your fuel leak issue. I doubt it, but who knows..

 

From what videos I’ve seen supposedly to the left of the metal fuel regulator is a plastic regulator with a hose. That’s what I’m thinking might be the part that’s leaking.

The first screenshot is mine. The second two are ones. I’ve taken off-line to explain what I think it might be resting on.

 

Plastic one is rollover valve/ vapor recovery system. Shouldn't be any gas coming out of that....

 

Be honest, I’m not really sure I don’t have the time with the weather and all out by me to drop my tank yet so it’s probably gonna be at least a few days or so to come with some kind of actual answer

in the meantime, I just lightened the load in the back of the truck just in case the crossmember is hitting against it

 

Considering there is a spray pattern ABOVE the tank, I would suspect something that is pressurized is leaking..... so, either the regulator itself, the line plugging into it, of that connection there.

 

I made a video while I was driving of it and at no time did I see any large amount of spray Even though, yes, I do see that it does clearly show a reasonable amount of fuel coating. Maybe the regulator itself has a crack on the side by the crossmember? Because in the video that I have, it doesn’t show it originating from the fuel hose connector to the regulator. It shows it going from left to right

 

In the video you posted that I looked at, the leak appeared to be coming from the fuel hose connector. I'm thinking a possible bad O-ring in the connector?

 

I basically just decided that I’m gonna replace the pump entirely and anything that I might need to replace I believe this is the original pump anyway so it would be about 23 years old so I feel that it’s definitely overdue for a change and to be honest, I really don’t feel like having to pull the tank for a second time if I don’t have to

 

Does anyone have any input on what replacement connectors I would need to get their appears to be a multitude of them and I’d like to be as precise as possible. As well as I’d appreciate any input on brands for fuel pumps.
