Default vaccum hose through firewall

My 98 dodge Ram 1500 The vacuum hose that goes though the fire wall is broken and I can't pull any more out. I am trying to avoid taking out the top dash bc it is brittle. My question is, does that vacuum line only connect to the climate control or does it connect to a breather valce or something else?

Just for the climate control. If there is enough sticking out, you can just splice it back together with the appropriately sized vacuum line.

Not enough to splice it. I found another hole on the driver side. I might try to run it through there.

Just needs a good vacuum source. So, however you can manage it.

I, too, fear this happening. I loathe even touching the line that runs through the firewall near heater core. Plastic was such a dumb choice here.

Some of the frame lines for the CAD are metal, so like The Million Dollar Man, we have the technology.

My metal lines rusted out, the plastic lines were still good.

But, plastic lines in the engine compartment wasn't the best idea..... of course, they lasted far longer than the warranty, which is all the manufacturer cares about.....

The line runs up to the hvac control(not sure which one). If you can't access the line just run a new one up to the hvac and splice it in.

Oh I foresaw that argument and was going to initially say we even have the technology for stainless lines, but that's laughable from an OEM so I refrained.

I am sure they are available in the aftermarket.

I bought some silicone hose and am going to run it from behind the rubber piece on the hood and though the door hinge area. I found a plug hole I'm going to put it in. Once I do it I can take a pic and show you. Might not be for a while bc I am going abroad for 4 weeks.
