01 1500 320a alternator
Good evening, all!
Anyone installed a high output alternator on their ride? I run a farm and my mobile power needs arent met by my truck (maybe I could bring a gas generator with me, but thats no fun). If youve installed a high output alternator (117 is stock and I want to go up to 320a), what modifications did you make? What lessons did you learn?
Power will go to a large inverter and from there to machinery.
To the mods: if this is in the wrong place, I apologize. Please move it if you feel its necessary.
Thanks!

The stock wiring is not going to work for that kind of amperage. I would suggest running two batteries and run new wiring for the amount of amps you will be working with. The stock fuse you can't go past a certain amperage(They don't make that style fuse in a larger amperage) I don't recall what it is but believe it's around 200A. So a upgraded fuse holder should be used also.
I suppose that is another option, But would still need to run wiring/regulator for the second alternator.

The Premier Power Welder uses a 200 amp alternator. Need a welder? Just showing the 200 amp runs the welder with no problems. I was pushing 2000 watts RMS with the stock alternator when I had my 04 Corvette.
