1997 Dodge Ram 2500 V8 Magnum 5.9L - Dying at idle/idling real low when comin to stop
Having issues with my truck dying at idle. It's like when I come to a stop it wants to idle down real low sometimes it recovers sometimes it doesnt, sometimes it doesn't do it at all. Than when I go to crank it back it up it doesn't wanna start without me giving it gas. Sometimes the truck runs fine and I have no issues so it's kinda erratic when it decides to do it. I've given it gas treatments. Anybody know what the issue might be?
Start with cleaning the throttle body. Physically remove it from the intake, (gasket was 3 bucks, last I checked.) Remove the IAC, (it's on the back) and clean all the crap out of it. Just wipe off the end of the IAC pintle, don't turn it though..... Leave the battery disconnected while you are playin' there.... When you have it squeaky clean, reinstall, hook everything back up, turn the ignition to 'on' (not start) count to ten, then start the engine. It should figger out idle pretty quick.

While the TB is off, have a look down the holes there as well. See oil pooling down there? Time to pull the intake, and fix the plenum gasket.
Have 2000 Ram 5.9L Magnum very similar issues. New to the forum so havent trolled thrum all the threads yet.
Symptoms are running rough usually when warmed up very intermittent or random.
I have checked for induction leaks and replaced the after market fuel cap with OEM now seals tank.
Replaced IACV due to intermittent operation loud sucking noise at the throttle body.
Cleaned throttle body while off.
Replaced O2 sensors 1 & 2.
Replaced Intake manifold plate gasket due oil in the plenum.
After all of these replacements truck run well until it got hot. Logs speed sensor and generally both O2 sensor codes when rough running appears.
