Just rebuilt the 46re in my 01 ram 1500 sport and it's not going into any gear, including reverse. Fluid level is correct, all new electronics, new high performance trans oil cooler, new pump, and new Torque converter. When I shift into neutral, it idles fine, when I shift into R, D, 1, or 2, rpms go up a little then go back down to normal idle. When I took the transmission out, I did remove the crank sensor so it didn't get damaged. One thing I did notice tho, if I put the transfer case in neutral and slowly pull it back to 2W, it starts to click. Could the transfer case possibly be stuck in neutral? Also, fluid pressure checks out fine too. I got the torque converter from O'Reilly, and it's a reman.
Stick it in P and elevate at least one rear wheel. You should then be able to rotate the driveshaft if the t-case is in N
You could also try moving in 4lo.
OK, tried that, and it's not moving. I'm betting the torque converter i got from O'Reilly is defective. I've seen reviews left by people who said they got defective torque converters from them.
I also disconnected the drive shaft and the output shaft on the transfer case is turning in all gears. But when I hooked it back up, it's still not doing anything. So only thing I can figure, is the torque converter is trash.
Are you getting these pressures? Did you adjust the bands?
Pressures are fine. I adjusted the bands by the ATSG specs. 2 and 7/8 on the kickdown band and 2 on the reverse band. Also, dropped driveshaft again and the output shaft on the transfer case is turning counter clockwise and does in all gears, R, N,and drive.

I've used O'Reileys torque converters on 3 different vehicles and in this truck with no problems. Did you get the mid stall TC? That's what I got in the box from OR. It takes a little more oomph to get it going. When in gear have you reved up to 2K-2.5K rpm to see if it moves? If you are going to be pulling a load you would want the TC to be a low stall one. My truck will never tow anything to heavy. I have 315"s (35's) that are only 8 ply. Was the valve body torqued down? If you have pressure you have a working torque converter. A good one will have good pressure. So the pump isn't the problem. Have you taken the 8 pin connector off to see if it will work in manual mode, with you shifting from 1-2-3. Look at the pins in the connector and see if one is bent.

I bought the TC1054, 2300 to 2600 stall converter. I have rebuilt several of these transmissions and never had a problem with a single one of them, till now. I didn't cheap out on any parts except the torque converter. Bought actual Mopar ATF+4 too. When putting everything back together, I triple checked everything and made sure end plays and other clearances were within spec. It just won't move in any gear, at all. But when I drop the drive shaft and put it in drive, or any other gear for that matter, the output shaft on the transfer case is turning, and when I press the gas, it starts turning faster. I did take the plug off and it still doesn't move. I'm at a loss on this one, smh!
