Default Oxygen sensor issues

1998 ram 1500 5.2L 2wd

When having the exhaust worked on, found the downstream oxygen sensor pigtail was bare wires behind it on all 4. Must not have remembered which wire was which well enough when replacing the pigtail and removing all the bare wire. Since have had lots of issues with high voltage at both sensors and cutting out while driving randomly. Used the wiring diagram to rewire it and replaced both sensors with Bosch sensors and worked great for 2 days then back to cutting out and random humming from the oxygen sensors. It cuts out right when the fuel system loop closes and opens. When it opens back up it says due to engine load or deceleration. Ideas? Only thing I've come up with is that its wired correctly now but the issues are stemming from an exhaust leak at the headers. The only thing changed was that pigtail and both upstream and downstream sensors.

I wish I could help, but I'm in the exact same situation. Plus my scan tool is saying 2/1 o2 sensor is at 5v. But I don't have that sensor...lol

Bosch is the worst, If you don't have problems out of the box you will shortly after. Use NTK's. Are you getting any codes?

Local parts available are walker or Bosch. NTK are special order. I can order them but don't think that is the issue. What came out were walkers and have been in there for a year.

I'm getting codes for high voltage on upstream and downstream as well as heater circuit codes.

It always throws the B1S2 high voltage first, then B1S1 voltage then the heater circuit ones together. I haven't done anything to the wiring on the upstream.

You can get service manuals for your truck in the FAQ/DIY section here. Wiring diagrams are in section 8W.

Please order the NTK sensor. At least you will be working with a known good sensor to start with.

As HeyYou has preached numerous times in this forum, NTK or Denso O2 sensors work best with these truck's finicky electronics. Personally, I wouldn't take chances with other O2 sensors. I'm running NTK O2 sensors with no issues in my 29 year old truck, which were replaced several years ago when I installed a new catalytic converter and 3" exhaust from the cat-back.
