I remember those days well. My '69 Charger used dual breaker points until I changed over to electronic ignition and I still have a tach/dwell meter somewhere out in the garage, although I haven't used it in years!

It's good to be old with exposure to interesting experiences...

Youth is wasted on the young.

Though, I gotta admit, there are some experiences in my life I most certainly could have dealt without.

They say good judgement comes from experience. Unfortunately, experience tends to come from bad judgement.

Not only do I know how to use a dwell/tachometer, I still have one. I've worked on, and repaired many a car and truck with a dwell/tachometer, a vacuum gauge and wooden dowel rod.

Do you still use a stick or do you use one of those sissy stethoscopes?

I will NOT use a screwdriver or any metal rod or tool to listen. I bumped a plug wire that had a bad insulator cover and it hit me in the ear. I think the coil was putting out 50K.

On the rotor shield, it does serve a function. It keeps moisture away from the inner bearing seal.

Haven't experienced that one. My screwdriver has about a six inch long plastic handle though..... so, shouldn't be an issue.

Never had a problem not having the shields in place. I changed the seals when I did brakes anyway.
