Default 2000, power window fell into door

I tried to put my window down - I could hear the motor but nothing happened. Few minutes later it fell straight down into the door. How can I get it working again? Never worked on windows before.

In my humble opinion, you're going to have to pull the door panel off that door and pull up the plastic covering to see what's really going on. I'd suspect the window regulator and/or electric window motor needs repair/replacement. Luckily, they are readily available & reasonably priced via Rock Auto under the interior components.

You should be able to find a how-to video on YouTube to help with the repair process.

A couple of things might have happened. The window regulator may ha ve come apart or the window came off it. You'll have to remove the panel either way. Short term, you can raise the window up by hand and either stick a wooden wedge into the inside of the window and wedge it in place, or you can put a C clamp or pair of locking pliers on the window regular slide to hold it in place. This will keep the window closed in cold weather.

Once you figure out the problem, parts are readily available. Plenty of videos over at the U of Y (Youtube) to show you how to fix it. Your truck design was used from 1994 through 2001. The heavier 2500 and 3500 trucks used the body into 2002.

Got the panel off and I can see that the plastic sliders on the bottom of the regulator mechanism have broken. Can these be bought anywhere?

Just replace the entire regulator. It's easier that way.

Sort of, some sliders are available and some are not. Unless they are the sliders the window sits in, replacing them is more trouble than its worth. The first regulator you replace, will be a son of a gun. Once you get the hang though, they are fairly easy to replace. The UofY (Youtube) has lots of videos to consult.

Fair enough. I've managed to find a pair of regulators and a passenger window (mine is a sheet of plastic held in with bathroom sealant) at the other end of the country.

I try to buy local but the big chain stores have run all the local parts stores out of business. I get a lot off Ebay. I can usually find parts for some of the more obscure stuff I get. A late model Mazda or Toyota? Sure! A water pump for 1952 B-3-PW Dodge Power Wagon, not likely.
