It will be insanely loud. I used to run my Ramcharger (318) straight off the Y-pipe, and you could hardly think...let alone listen to the radio. Not to mention the fact that depending on where you live, you'll most likely get a fine for noise violation. And then there's not passing inspection because you don't have a muffler.

Nah, the y-pipe went back pretty far on that truck.

And as far as the ticket, usually you get it fixed or pay the fine. And if you don't get it fixed and just pay...you could drive down the street and get another one for the exact same thing. Something like that, you'd best just fix it (or not do it in the first place). Besides, since you're in Cali, I'm almost positive you wouldn't pass inspection without a muffler.

Do NOT straight pipe it. I did for a while and I will never again.

1. Loud as hell yes, but it cracks like a mother when you let off the gas. It is loud, but it sounds like ****...
2. If screws your power. I went from stock, to straight pipe and noticed a LOSS in power. Put on my MagnaFlow and now I have alot my power.
3. Kiss your low end torque and gas milage goodbye. The engine needs back pressure for torque and gas milage. Straight piped it flows TOO much and you loose that back pressure.

Don't do it!

What about just gutting the cat and having a flowmaster 40 series?

I currently have a flowmaster 40 series with dual out, I was thinking about gutting the CAT, how would that sound, is it good or bad, better MPG, more power?????

thanks guys

If you're suggesting that he gut his cat, that would not work. According to his profile, he lives in CALI. And AFAIK, that means he has to pass emissions. IE, he has to have a funtioning converter.

As far as gutting the cat, why not just pull it out and put a straight pipe in? Why waste a perfectly good converter? [>:] The throttle should be a little more responsive with it gone. Won't see any better MPG though. You'll also most likely need an 02 sensor eliminator...whether you pull the cat out or just gut it.

I was gonna say, BlueMXblaster was not talking striaght exhuast, he was talking about taking the cat off or gutting it out and putting a Flowmaster 40 series on.

Now with the correct question, yes will be louder, but not extreme. I have the cat still on mine but no muffler and stright out the back of the truck, not extremely loud, but nice rumble. Only issue I would worry about is if it would mess up your O2 sensor reading or not?

As for can they give you more then one ticket for the same offence, in the same night no(unless it is speeding or careless driving), but for actuall non driver offences no they cant. Can they do it the next time they catch you, damn skippy they can, they can give you 1 a day for the rest of your life or till you fix what ever the issue is. Also, keep in account, that if you have Smog tests where you live it will mess that up also. Plus by most state laws, when you sell a vehicle, you have to make sure it will pass smog or have at least the smog equipment on it. Just food for thought. Good luck
