im so sick of this gas guzzlin problematic pile of junk its nothing but a money pit. i drove 118.6 miles and used 12.4 gallons of gas by my calculations thats 9.56 mpg. am i correct? i swaer if i cant get the mpg to at least 13 to 15 im gonna dump a can of gas on this pos and burn it to the ground and i will video the thing and post it on here for all to see. to answer any? you guys have yes my cat is fine and this truck is 100 percent mechanicaly soung probably better than most people are always looking at it. please help if you can i really do love my ram but if i cant get the mpg up its gonna burn.......

lets see here yes i want a 4 door tundra . stock exhaust to cat then dual from new muffler back.285/70/17 bfg rugged trailes,and 4.10 gears wich are stock should i see if i could get a set of the 3.90 gears would that help i had a 95 1500 ram with a 5.9 and i got about 15 in town and 18 on highway and that truck was a piece of crap though compared to my 01. i wish i could post some pics on here and you guys would see why i love my ram but its startin to kill me.anyone wanna trade me for my gears.

285? what is that like 32's? i think for mechanical reasons youd want to stay with 4-10's maybe a notch higher but not too high or its onna be hard gon the motor to turn them

285's are 33's.

Thats pretty bad though...under 10mpg? Something is totally wrong there. How old is your air filter? That can kill MPG too.

I doubt it's your gears. 4.10's are perfect for 33" tires, in fact I wish I had 4.56. I run a 285/70/17 with 4.10's, and I get almost 16mpg.

You said your cat is fine, so I would check two other things - o2 sensors, and plenum. If you have a leaky plenum or bad o2 sensors, you would be getting mileage like you are seeing. Also, like Burning asked, what is your exhaust diameter?

i figured out the math on my truck..i get less then 10... im lookin at around 8 or 9 ... thats avg between highway and city... pretty horible

Holy crap I'd say so seeing I get 12-13 City and right around 17 highway.

There no way 44 CID makes that much of a MPG diffrence...
