Manual Trans
My automatic trans is acting funny again. I have had it rebuilt once. Not looking forward to a second time. I have been debating a manual transmission lately. Does anyone know how much it would cost, roughly, to change from a auto to a manual.
its something ive tossed around in my head for a bit too but i think it would be easer to just get a anouther truck thats a standerd lol but i dont wanna get rid of this truck so thats where i sit with my auto
Before this truck I have always had a manual. And I enjoy them so much more. I do a lot of off roading and besides the better driving experience I think the trans would last longer. I will do a little research and let ya'll know.

I have a 2000 2500 Ram with the 5.9 I heard that any dodge truck transmission is interchangeable with any dodge truck engine, is this true? Obviously I would need pedals and all that junk, but does anybody know if I will also need different driveshafts? What about that stupid truck computer thing? Can I get it reprogrammed or will I have to order a new one?

Either that or you need to get a different T-case. As ryans pointed out, you also need a different column and dash. The dash is technically optional. It's more work & money than it sounds, and Tani has the best idea if you decide to go through with something like this. Find a donor truck that you can buy. That way you'll have EVERYTHING that you need.
i looked hard for a manual Ram when i was lookin for a truck, but it wasnt as easy to find as an auto.... just wondering, do these trucks lurch much? i know the bigger the truck (usually) the more it lurches (when you shift). just wonderin
