mounting towing hooks
Question??? if you don't have tow hooks now on your truck. Can anyone advise if the holes are there already? how would somone know if the truck they presently own can have tow hooks installed without doing any drilling?
all the holes are already drilled in the frame and cross member except 1 on each side. you install the brackets using all the predrilled holes first, and then drill these 2 additional 1/2in holes. you can see them in god's picture above. it is easy as long as you have a drill and a 1/2in bit. i don't know why this hole is missing from the cross member, but it is.
since the mopar kit includes brackets and hooks, the brackets are predrilled for the hooks. on god's brackets, because you are supplying your own hooks, they are not predrilled, so you will drill 2 holes in each bracket.
i would not recommend trying to bolt the hook directly to the frame w/o the bracket. the frame is curved and it just doesn't fit right and somethings going to bend or break when you pull on it.
god's brackets are pretty much exact duplicates of mopar's. i got a set of used mopar's from ebay for about $70, or else i would have god's.
