mounting towing hooks
where is the best place to mount a tow hook on the front of my 95? ive had to hook up tow straps to the frame on the front before, and its so far back from the bumper that it puts a lot of stress/pressure on the front bumper. just wondering if anyones mounted hooks before and has suggestions where to do it.
pictures would be awesome too

RE: mounting towing hooks
On the frame [8D] That's the best place to hook a strap or mount a tow hook. If you had a 1st gen Ram with the solid bumper that they have, then you could just hook it right on the bumper (no need for a hook). That's how I used to pull people out with my Ramcharger.

I believe Silver_Dodge also has some pics of his install.

yea i did find that thread, its helpin. buuuut haha in that thread you said it was 74-88 years chevy, here you said 88-98..... i guess it shouldnt matter it just made me laugh.
yea im not completely sure about this hook i have now. it doesnt have a bracket with it, which seems to me like it wouldnt be as strong. (am i wrong?) ill go check some junkyards and see if i can find hooks off a Ram with offroad package, and if not try to find an older chevy.

yah that is kinda funny maby they all have the same ones i dont know for shure like i sed i cant rember the years nor do i have a reson to rember chevy[:'(] years lol but there the ones that have a strate part with a cupple holes in it then a c-curve in the end and are flat like 1 in by 3/4 in steel. the factory ones will be stronger becuse they have a bracket as well that bolts onto the frame and the cross member where as ither the ones your looking at or the chevy ones will just bolt uder the frame but they should be strong enuf between the 2 of them unless you compleatley barry the truck but then youll have bigger problems
