Ok, just moved 1 step closer to a 3rd gen 4x4...
took it to a wheel shop to have them look @ the suspension and it looks in pretty decent shape. inner tie rod ends need replacing and that's about it. the rear has some sort of load air spring setup that is disconnected, wouldnt take much to get that working. it looks like the PO of this truck did quite a bit to it. all of which (except the rear load thingy) i'd do... masive exhaust upgrade, CAI and a programmer... really nice!
anyway, i have to go find a diesel guy now to have his opinion on the motor... ttyl guys.

Well, there you go... learn something new everyday... I took it to a diesel expert and he said the motor had a problem. sounded ok to me until he pointed out the extra rattle that was present that I never noticed before. keep in mind I drove the truck about 70 miles this morning... sweet truck...
So the search will continue.

absolutely... There was another that was cheeper, bone stock from a private party with 1/3 the miles (22k) that I may go look at... the drawback to it is that it's 120 miles south [:@]
Let's see.....all from cars.com
2004 Ram 2500 $34k w/ 22k miles
2004 Ram 2500 $31k w/ 46k miles
2003 CTD Ram Manual $35k w/ 35k miles
2003 Ram 1500 V8 5.7L $24k w/ 65,500 miles
Those are just a couple I saw in your area....dunno if you looked at em or not....and I had no idea what you were lookin to spend so I set my search at like $35k....considering your ditching two vehicles to do this I figured you were lookin for a good decent priced truck.

Atleast you had the common sense to have it checked out. When I bought mine, I fell for the looks, low mileage, and low sticker so hard.... All that I would have had to do is take one down the TB and I would have been gone.
What gears are they putting in the 3rd gens? I have talked to several very knowledgeable people who say that Dodge should have never put 3.55's in a truck as heavy as the 2nd gen. Just wondering if they corrected that.
It's a shame that truck didn't pan out. That is one sweet looking ride.
