UPDATE: Please Look...Strange rattling/knocking/squeking noise from front end
Hi, my truck is:
2000 1500 2wd 5.9L
Extended Cab
104,000 miles
automatic
I was hoping i could get some help on a noise i am hearing from the left front end of the truck. I can hear the noise at all speeds except at a dead halt. I was thinking it was something suspension related by the noise doesn't seem to match suspension movement. If it is not suspension or steering related the only other thing i can think of is it sounds like something under the hood is rattling around. My not so professional guess is one of the shocks. I still have stock shocks on the truck. The only things i have read is a tsb about the steering linkage. When i try to diagnose it like it says i cant feel the knocking. Thanks for helping

id start at looking at the front axle u-joints and the wheel bearings if you have still got the stock shocks there long shot by now but i dont think theyd be making that noist just more of a coasty (kinda bobing up and doen kinda feel)

Thanks. at 100,000 miles i took the truck to the dealership for this pretty inexpensive special which included a check up and they marked the u-joints as excellent. The noise has been going on for a while so i would think they'd notice the problem. I will take a look at the wheel bearings if i can, what should i be looking for?

in my opinion dealerships are stuped whitch u-joints did they check the drive shaft ones or the axle ones if they dident specify they might not have checjed the axle ones just reach under thete and wiggle them them in there is play in there there shot if not they coild be dry so thell go soon as for the wheel bearing jack up each wheel and wiggle it top to bottem and if there is play in there its a bad wheel bearing

Besides the price of the wheel bearings, how much is this going to cost. I was reading and it says a certain nut (dont remember which) cant be reused. Where can i get a new one of those and how much will it cost? What all do i need if the wheel bearing is my problem. Thanks
