Default oil consumption

driving down the interstate today....oil pressure drops, the oil light comes on..i tap the gas and pressure comes back up...get home and theres no friggin oil in the POS. thats the delima i had today. a while back i cut a hole in my cat and hollowed it out...but didnt plug the hole...so theres a huge hole in my cat which im sure is messing with my o2 sensors.. HERES my question: could my truck be getting the wrong signals b/c of the hole in the cat and burning oil? i mean sh*t, i just change the oil a month ago and its not leaking oil anywhere. any thoughts, comments, concerns, please let me know.

Sounds like your burning it if its not leaking. Check your Plenum. Peek inside your throttle body and if theres a bunch of oil in the bottom of the intake theres your problem.

Also a O2 problem like that wouldn't make it burn oil, and if there was a problem your CE light would most likly come on.

if you can get the codes for us itll help alot... more then likley its gonna be a plenum gasket..number one cuase for unexplainable oil levels going low...

to get the codes... insert key turn the key on (not start) off on off on.. in a quick motion.. look at the digital odemeter and it will display a PXXXXX code... record those codes and relay them to us.. you have a 97' so it should work..i know in most 98's it doesnt.

97's dont have the digital odometer, you have to count the flashes of the check engine light
