All depends on your budget really. New headers, custom exhaust, and a programmer are probably the top 3 I would suggest. The programmers are on sale thru TruckAddon's for $275....which is $125 less then normal. You could also invest in a better/bigger throttle body.

if you got 5 grand to spend make that 318 a 390 stroker =D Might suffer some downtime of the truck but if you can get yourself a Magnum block (doesnt have to be magnum, but the LA blocks require more work) and a stroker kit along with a camshaft with a longer duration and slighty more lift, and r/t heads and a M1, you could be set =) This is all with doing work yourself.

Or you can just put a 50-70 HP shot of nitrous, I think the pistons/crank can hold that kinda power, i wouldnt go with anymore tho. Also dual exhaust as others mentioned, along with the TB, and roller rockers (1.7 crower are nice from what i heard)

nos would be cool if your lookin for something quick and not consistant... im not sure but i think RM_Indy is squezing his motor... or was atleast

headers TB CAI hypertech duals aftermarket heads.. 1.7 RR's port polish ... elec fans ..blower/charger/turbo (leaf blower motor jammed into the intake works the best ) the list goes on... just depends how deap your pockets are and how much time you want to invest in the truck!

Check the list of mods in my signature......I am happy with the performance of mine now. It won't light the tires - but it is a WHOLE LOT snappier. My last mod was the 180 thermostat - and that seemed to be the kicker that helped my other mods work. My mileage has increased from 11.8 to 12.8, and I got 13.6 on a highway trip today. Fastman TB - $225, Hypertech - $284, MSD wires - $90 (splurge), T-stat - $7, K&N - $50, Flowmaster cat back duals - $299 at Midas.......
