I wasn't wanting to ask who ever built their own locker, how they did it and what they used.

how about being a little more specific.

what axle are we talking about?
are you talking about welding the spider gears?
doing a spool?
installing a locker?
rebuilding a locker?

I'm talking in the rear end. Some on where had a post about they built their own locker out of a few materials and it didn't cost that much. I'm not really doing this for my truck but need the information on how to do it for a buddy. He doesn't want to buy a locker for the truck and doesn't want to weld the spider gears up either. Quick question though, is it hard to weld a spider gear?

if you're a good welder than its easy.

I highley doubt that someone built their own locker. I know people have built their own posi-lok, which is a center axles disconnect that replaces the stock CAD unit. It makes it mechanical instead of air. It also alows you to have 2 low.

Well I read on here where someone made something out of brake cable from a bicycle or something.

yup thats what I described. All it does is connect the intermediate shaft to the axle shaft basically eliminating the stock CAD system (which is done by vacuum).

Well it isn't for my truck but can you built one for a 2wd like my truck is. I want to make something to make the truck kick posi instead of buy a locker and without welding the spider gears. I'm actually a really good welder but I don't want to lose my truck in a slick curve. Can it be made for a 2wd to make it kick posi?
