Thanks...B&M pan is on the way[:@].....should be here tomorrow and I'll check it out,send it back and order the tci Bitch is...i called B&M before i ordered it to make sure it would fit.....bastards!!!!

I don't see any part numbers for the Mopar pans in question. There is a pan for the 727, and one for the 518 (46RH/RE...also fits 47RH/RE). They are two different pans for two DIFFERENT transmissions. Just because the 727 pan fits doesn't mean it's the same
Were the correct pans being measured? I don't think they were. In fact, I'm almost betting it wasn't the correct pan, since the pan for the A-518 (P5007740AB) is 3.9" deep according to Mopar and is only quoted as adding 2 extra quarts to the sump (not 4 as BR claimed in the thread). The A500 pan (42RE) is 4.5" deep.
There is no depth measurements listed for the 727 and 904 pans, but the 42RE and 46/47RE/RH pans are already deeper than the old 727 pans. That's common knowledge in the 1st gen world....that's why our stock pans (especially the 47RH/RE pans which are the deepest) are sought after by those who have 727s. Cheap pan upgrade.

yes I understand and know all of this. I had bought a couple of pans to figure this out. And BR was wrong and even stated that his 46RH tranny pan wasnt much if any larger than the mopar one. The mopar one isnt any extra capacity. Maybe a 1/2 of a quart.
The B&M pan was that correct one. Most of the pans you see fit all of them and even put all of the above trannys as a fit for these pans. Even the TCI pan that I bought says 4qt for 727 and only 2qt extra for 46RE but most pan descriptions dont say that.
Almost all of the pans out there will list every tranny it will fit and then also say that they hold X amount more fluid but you have to double check with the manufacturer for depth. Otherwise it may have just been extra capacity for a 727.

TCI is about the only site that lays it down. most of the other sites dont tell you that the trannys with OD wont have the same extra capacity.

I just saw the depth of the mopar pan. If it is 3.9 in the inside I would be suprised. I called the Mopare performance tech line and they told me Id had to modify it to fit my 46RE because of the solenoid. that and he said it would hold any more oil tan my stock pan

What is TCI part # of the pan that you finally got? Guess its a good thing i dont need to drive my truck or I'ld be in trouble here

The TCI 4.5" is from the inside to the top. I could guarantee that 3.9" is from top to bottom on the outside of the Mopar pan.
The mopar pan must have been the 7740ab that Snowjay and BR were talking about.
We are saying the same things.
The only thing I know is that when I called the MOPAR tech line they said they didnt have an extra capacity pan for my 46re.
