46re tranny ?
I have a 99 4x4 with a 46re tranny and am in need of a new pan( rusted through) will a 727 pan fit...I would like a cast pan so i dont have the same prob again and also the extra fluid wont hurt. Thanks in advance
Are you planning on ordering the Mopar Deep Cast pan? If so, just get the 518 pan. That's the correct pan for your transmission. You can find it here: http://www.mopartsracing.com/parts/trans.html
I know the 727 pan will fit the 47RH/RE, but I'm not sure if it will fit the 46.

The TCI 128005 will also fit...it's $20 more than the Mopar one above, from Summit.
It comes with new stainless bolts, pickup extension, gasket, and magnetic drain plug. 'Tis the one I'll be getting when I get around to dropping the pan to adjust the bands...eventually.

The Mopar one includes the spacer as well
Not sure what else though...haven't ordered mine yet. I will have to soon though....right after I order my front seal and 15 quarts of Amsoil ATF [>:]
I liked the mopar one because it also has the bung for a transmission temp. gauge in the side of the pan. That's something I plan on adding. It looks like the TCI pan doesn't have that.

I'm pulling my transmission to replace the front seal that's leaking. I'm sick of having a mess on the floor. I'm also going to drain the TC and the cooler...install the deeper pan....and oh yeah, drain the transfer case. 15 should be about enough for it all. Dry fill is around 10 quarts. Regular filter/fluid change is around 4.
I prefer Amsoil. Others prefer +4. They're both full synthetics and Amsoil is +4 compatible.
I've never had a problem mixing it. I put it in my 90 Grand Prix at 114,000 miles (which was it's first trans fluid change). I have 157,000 on it now.
Oh, and as long as you're changing your pan...don't forget to check and adjust your bands.

the 46re is for the 5.9 engine right? Don't your 3/4 ton boys with v-10's have a 47re? Will the 518 pan fit the 46re or the 47re... also, that tech article doesn't have a 46re listed for a 99... what gives[
