have some questions !!!!! please.......
The Chevy 5.3 is a truly advanced motor, I'd say that it's down right impressive. The thing you have to realize is that the 5.9 uses some, in a lack for better words, dead technology. The Mopar 4.7 is a great improvement over the older 5.2 and 5.9. The Dodge 4.7 uses the same technology as the Chevy 5.3 which includes a much more advanced air intake and ignition system by using coil packs. The 4.7 uses and overhead cam whereas the 5.3 uses a single cam, giving the 4.7 a c.i. for c.i. power advantage over the 5.3. Stock, the 5.9 Ram is slower than the 5.3 Chevy because of the Chevy’s superior technology. The Dodges of today have been vastly updated and the stock 5.3 can’t touch the 5.7 HEMI. If you’re looking for a tremendously fast truck, the Ram can’t beat your old 5.3 stock, but modded, it would destroy it. The 5.9 is a time tested reliable motor that does have a certain amount of power. If treated correctly and with some aftermarket attention, it could be a powerhouse for you. Plus that C10 looks like it has so much bondo on it that it would fall apart over he first bump you hit, and it’s 36 years old. Personally, I think you want something different, lots of people have Rams but you don’t see a whole ton of C10s anymore, everyone wants to own a classic, but that truck won’t hold up long and it’s easy to make a Ram look sweet.
thanks for all the input bano, that was very useful. i also wanted to know if i was to get the truck and then start modding it at 72k, is it gonna hold up for a long time? also do you guys know if it is possible to get the cigarette smell out of a car/truck cuz i just went and looked at the truck again and actually got in it and man the smell is horrid !!! lol i didnt have time to test drive it but i took some pics of it im gonna post them up in the next post when i get them loaded. all right well if you guys have anymore input please feel free
Always glad to help. Unless you're planning on highly modifying the motor, 72K will hold up just fine. To get the smell out, simply shampoo the interior and let it dry, then throw some baking soda down, let it sit for a while and shop vac it away. Drive with the windows down and maybe add a nice pine tree air freshener.
im gonna have like a million questions, all together that is, sorry lol. what do you consider highly modifying..? cuz i would like to have it be pretty quick at least faster than my old silverado was. ummm i cant think of anything else for now.
