2nd gen Proj. Headlights-High Bean Problem
Hi, I recently bought eBay projector headlights for my 2001 dodge ram and am having problems with my high beams lighting up. when I turn the light on, the blue high beam bulb on the dash turns on...my highbeams are extremely dim...what can I do to fix this? I have researched about 2 hours now several posts and found one possible answer to my question..it says something about swinging the wires on the blue connector (I suppose the one the headlights bought?) but I don't know which one's. any help is extremely appreciated. thanks for your help guys.
defently a wiring problem...if your highbeam indicator is coming on with the lowbeams.. (if im understanding you correctly) something is crossed... get your trusty multimeter out and give her a few hours of shooting.. see what you come up with.

Do your headlamps illuminute poorly just on high-beam, or poorly on highbeam and lowbeam?
C. they turn on as soon as I turn my low beams and when i flick to my high beams, they also stay on (although that's normal)...also, my highbeams are dim, they don't light up like high beams at all. I was noticing the blue connector has 4 wires...2 blacks, 1 red and one blue...which would I have to match together to get my high beams to work correctly and not have the blue high beam indicator light up everytime I turn on my regular low beams?
If you are adding some fancy, high power headlamps, make sure your truck has a relayed headlight system. Any moderate increase through that headlight crcuit will start cookin' things. I just spent 2 days redoing connections and making MAJOR upgrades to my headlight circuit. Evev if the system IS relayed, I'd check wire gauges in a manual to see what kind of current you can safely carry. If the wire is too small, get ready to spend a few dollars.
As far as your current problem, my guess is that you have a hot and a ground mixed up somewhere. I don't know about your fancy new bulbs, but on the Rams, the ground is solid BLACK. The other two wires (low beam feed and high beam feed) will be different colors, and each color may or may not, have a colored stripe down its length. For example My Ram uses VT/WT and RD/OR. That means a violet wire with white stripe, and red wire with orange stripe. Look in the manual. You may have a daytime running module that's not compatible with your new lamps. You have to research a little. When you get the trucks wiring, then you compare it to the lighting schematic on the new bulb. If all you bought were plug-ins with no other wiring mods, you might be overtaxing your switch.
And one other bit of advice. Always apply dielectric grease around the o-ring seal, and in the ends of the connector. I like to leave a fat gob on the three spades on the headlamp. And MOST importantly, wear rubber gloves and NEVER touch the bulb, or let the bulb touch grease/dirt.
Good luck.

I wouldn't consider them a "fancy" upgrade, since it's a replacement for the oem one's and I don't think they would consume enough to be relayed..? or would they. they are the projector headlights off ebay..with 3 led's and the halo which are connected to ground and already existing wiring. so you say blacks are solid ground...no way around it...sp then that leaves me with red and blue...what can I do to get my high beams to light up how they should and eliminate that blue indicator on the dash when I turn my lights on?
EDIT: I read somewhere on this forum a member named attila posted something about mixing two wires and then having high beams and low beams working fine...Anyone have any input on that?

If I understand your question correctly, this only happened when connecting the projector lights.
did you do any type of rewiring? if you did bring it back to stock and see if the problem happens, then you'd be able to tell if something else was fried in the process.
if not then you know some wires are crossed on the new install, take one light at a time, bust out the multimeter and see which wires are sending juice when switching between high and low beams.
I have never installed/owned projector lights and always thought they used standard bulbs, with the only difference being the lens but oh well
I hope this helps you out, bring it back to stock and trouble shoot one light at a time.
