Default 318 Camshaft?

Whats the best aftermarket cam for a 95 ram 1500 318 auto? Are all of them smooth idle? I was looking at an xtreme energy cam, but they all say smooth idle. I want performance, but I love the sound of a thumpin motor.

Problem with a "thumpin" motor is that you have to upgrade a lot of other components, and you have to TUNE your truck very well...or your motor won't last long The lumpier your idle gets, the more your gas mileage will go down the toilet as well

Your best bet is this crane cam: CRN-704121

It's the EXACT same cam as the Mopar Performance Camshaft that was available a few years ago. That cam has been known to wake up stock motors quite nicely, and still retain street manners. It's also important to know that NEW lifters are STRONGLY recommended when doing ANY cam swap.

True I just like the sound. You'd be crazy to swap a cam and not get new lifters. I'll probably get new springs if I ever get around to swapping a cam.
