If you have stock valve train then 5200rpms is the max rpms. Your springs are not strong enough to close the valves in time before the pistons get there. Beyond those rpms you risk floating a valve into a piston.

Why would you want to push your motor farther than that though? The 318 isn't a high RPM motor. The tach changes color there for a reason

I don't have the Viper rockers in my truck. I'm not sure if they even work on the V10. The people that have done the swap have noticed a slight improvement though. If I remember, it's around a $40 or $50 swap.

If you want a mopar computer, find my Mopar PCM ebay thread and see if there's one that will work with your truck.
just had to ask.. why wouldnt viper rockers work in your V10? they both are 10 cylinders.. do they use different heads? i thought a viper rocker would feel right at home in your V10.. and a better match up then stickin them in an 8

They might actually work. I've just never heard of anyone trying them on a V10, while I've heard of several people using them on magnum V8s. Most of the people I know of that have done rocker swaps on V10s have used the 1.7 crower rockers.

If I wasn't going for a cam, I'd probably look into it. But knowing I'll be doing a cam, I probably won't even bother with rockers. Just new lifters. Unless I get in there and find some wear on my stockers [8D]

yea.. the vipers were 1.6 but rollers right? or were they 1.7 tappets? i cant remember.. but yea if your going cam then i wouldnt worry about it iether..unless you really wanted rollers to free up that vavletrain friction.. but thats getting down to the nitty gritty.

Viper rockers are 1.7:1 stamped rockers. They'd be a steal at $70ish if they were rollers They're a good bump up though from the stock 1.6s though. The rockers I'm thinking of are from the mid 90s Vipers though. They might have switched to rollers at the end of the 90s, before going to the 8.3L V10.
