cold intake

RE: cold intake
Huh? I am assuming that you meant a cold air intake system? Lots of people on this forum are using them. The one I have is an S&B, I like it alot and it added some power and gas mileage increases some when I keep my foot out of it. Try searching cold air intake, you will find alot of reviews and pictures of different systems. As far as which one to get K&N is used by most. I would go with the K&N unless you get a good deal on an S&B or Volant.

might seem stupid but what does S&B stand for, interested in CAI too

IIRC that is their website if you want to have a look.

RE: cold intake
Volant seems a nice option too - best at preventing hot air infiltration in the intake charge of your engine. But many also prefer the K&N cold air intake.

the above link is the most comprehensive and 'independent'
test of Cold Air Intakes on a rear wheel dyno
and notice that they don't do much?
If you do buy a CAI
loan a diagnostic scanner and do before and after
measurements of your IAT sensor and your MAP sensor.
If the IAT doesn't measure a lower temperature
and the MAP doesn't measure and higher air pressure
...send the CAI back for a refund.
No manufacturer...Toyota, Honda, Ford, GM, Porsche, BMW or DCx
has found that any CAI design improves MPG at part throttle driving.
When was the last time you saw a car ad from any car company that said:
"Our new air intake design improves MPG by 2"
You will never see one.
Want to see a good 'Ram Air' intake that improves engine performance above 100 mph?
Look at the twin scoop factory installed system on a BMW M6
