Default 1996 Ram 1500 Stall Problem

First time poster, recent reader,

Recently, my 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 with 5.9 has been having a stall problem. Usually it stalls at stop signs in the process of warming up, once warmed up, it goes away. So far I've had a tune-up done, replaced wires and started using MMO in the gas. Helped a little but still stalls once in a while. I'm getting ready to pull the throttle body to clean it up along with cleaning the IAC

My question is how hard is it to pull the throttle body? This is my first time doing it. I understand how to disconnect the wiring for the sensors but how hard is it to remove the throttle cables without screwing something up?

Any help is very much appreciated.

Charles

4 bolts on it. Removing the linkage isn't hard, just have to take a good look at it and you can figure how it pops off. I don't remember exactly at the moment how it comes off.

it could either have a clip type that slides over it or it'll have a ball type which pops off. the mmo will not help stalling, it can help lube up the fuel injectors some though.

Thanks for all the input. This weekend I replaced the IAC and ran some of Mopar's Combustion Chamber Cleaner. The truck doesn't stall anymore. I did see how the throttle cable come off; push type clip. I'll clean it some other weekend when I get some time.

Thanks again.

Default Stalling Issues

I own a 96 dodge ram 1500, this morning it started fine, warmed up, drove about 1/2 mile down the road, then stalled. It would restart as long as my foot was on the gas but as soon as I tried to put it into gear it would stall, did this for about 10 minutes, I got out and opened the hood, made sure everything looked ok, tried again, it started & I could put it in gear & drive it. Does anyone know what that means? I have already replaced the filter with a Fram filter about 10 days ago. Any ideas would be appreciative. Thank you

Clean the throttle body, especially the IAC port on the back.

REPLACE the IAC on the back of the throttle body. 2 torx bolts and an electrical connector. clean the well the pintle goes into and make sure the small hole in the bottom of the well is open. don't forget o-ring on the IAC, it might be loose in the box. don't push, pull, or twist the pintle. available at any parts store for $40-50.
