Upgrade 01 stereo to 05 - will it fit?
I'm thinking of upgrading my standard RAZ AM/FM/CD stereo in my 01 2500 to an 05/06 model with aux-in and mp3 capability.
Will these fit in the hole? I'll just keep using the stock speakers and wiring.
Is the only big deal making a wiring harness adapter?
Does anyone make a harness to bridge the two connectors from the 01 to the single 22 pin connector used by the 05?
The factory manual also says that the RAZ steroes communicate on the CCD (Chrysler Collision Detection) bus. What's that about and do I need to worry about that on an 05 stereo?
Thanks.

its all personal taste and how much you want to spend. They have some that have lite shows and all that and they also have basic ones that just display the basics. or if you want to you can get an in dash gps/dvd player, i believe those run close to 1000 dollars though. as far as the size they have dash kits that dont look too bad.
my aftermarket kenwood looks alright in the space i have, it sticks out a few mm further than i would like, but yeah, the kits they sell work pretty well. if you have a double sized spot you can find aftermarket decks made to fit, but i dont think thatll work for you

It's a shame to put a tiny stereo in such a huge hole.

If you look into the Pioneer line of products...they have a double din size head unit, about the same size as factory. single din being standard aftermarket size head units. Hope it helps
