Default How do I adjust my valves??

94
5.2L
125k miles

Back at the end of the summer I replaced my head gaskets. When I was putting everything back together, I set the motor to the Neutral position and put the push rods and rockers back on. I then just tighten down the rocker to the spec that was called for in my book....

Now I have what sounds like a valve tap, after the I get up to temperature. I have been trying to do some research and some say I need to turn the cam to where the push rod is at the furthers most point, I guess this would also cause the valves to be completely closed. Then tighten up the rocker so the push rod just spins in my fingers???

Is this something that needed to be done when I did my head gasket?? I can't remember but I didn't think there was any type of adjustments on the rockers when I was putting them back together. I did ensure that everything went back the same position it came off from.

Any suggestions would be great. I am going to try and pull the valve covers and see if there is anything loose....This was my first head gasket so I am not very experience on what I am looking at.

thanks for the help...

If you have stock rockers there is no adjustment. I have 1.7 roller rockers and you adjustment them to zero lash. No one in here help me a damm bit, I figured it all on my own!

So, is there anything else that would cause a valve tap??? Maybe something I did when I put the heads, and intakes back together??

Low oil volume or a sticking valve.

Hydraulic lifters??? on all the old chevy's I would tighten them down till they quite making noise. Seem to work fine on them. If it was a bad valve you would hear a popping sound in the intake or exhaust.
