VWandDodge- I hear you. Any mod that benefits the low end definitely helps our towing needs. How does your truck pull and how many lbs do you normally tow?
There was a thread here a while back that asked how much people could pull with a 5.2L. Someone wanted to know how heavy my trailer is (18' dovetail) and I think it comes in at 1,800lbs. I am planning on hauling another load of scrap tomorrow. I'll run the numbers and report back. I built my truck for occasional towing since I deal in the VW hobby. I also have high praise for the Fastman TB and cutting down the intake runners.

VWandDodge- Cool. Interested to know what the numbers are. Also, did shortening the intake runners help with the low end? Did you do it yourself or get it from Hughes Engine? Thanks!

Read my two engine threads. You'll learn the whole story there.

FYI, I should have gotten a picture of my load from today, but it was the body from a 1967 VW Beetle with another 1967 Beetle body all chopped up and back inside of it with *another* body from a 1964 Beetle as well. The crane operator grabbed the body and everything stayed inside (there was no floorpan for this car) and he hauled it off and chucked it on top of a pile. Too cool!

Anyway, I had almost 1,200lbs of steel. Hope this helps.

VWandDodge- Good read on the threads. Looks like I'll be doing the intake manifold modification next to help with low end torque. That would of been a cool picture of the Beetle. Thanks for the #'s. These trucks do a pretty good job towing. That is the reason why I bought the Dodge. I had a Tundraand I loved it. Very reliable and dependable but the towing capabilities was its only weak link. It struggled in the towing department. The Tundra struggled with my 5500# Outback Travel Trailer while the Ram performed extremely well with the same trailer. I just wouldn't mind to have more torque for towing. Love my truck and doing whatever I can to increase the performance and longevity of this truck.

I am also going to do the rear brake upgrade as well for better stopping. I think I have the thread bookmarked at work. It has to do with upgrading to the 1-ton Chevy brakes.

If you can get that information and post it, that would be great. I wouldn't mind having better stopping capacity when towing the travel trailer. Peace of mind when traveling with entire family.
