OK guys, i m new and sorry if this is an old post, i have heard diff. things from the guys at HS and summit tech, i have a 318 with a comp cams camshaft, i need new rocker arms and like the viper ones b/c im broke, but my question is do i need to have adjustable rockers arms or can i get an adj. push rod and find the right length, and if that is the way to go how would i do that ?
thanks

According to Mopar performance, the geometry is wrong. This does not mean your truck will not run with them, but it does mean that it will put abnormal stress on the valvetrain. You'd be better offto save up for Harland Sharps
You shouldn't need adj. rockers unless you plan to run a cam. Before I installed a cam, I ran the non-adj. HS 1.7's w/ the stock pushrods. The adj. are cheaper, but keep in mind that you will have to buy guideplates, hardened pushrods, and either Mopar Magnum valve covers or custom ones to run them.
Benefits to adj. rockers are:
1) if you install a cam, different head, or have your heads milled then you are already set.
2) they give you the ability to make the valvetrain quieter.

OK i do have a cam, so the adj ones are the way to go.
they will fit a 5.9, the heads are the same part number as the 5.2 from mopar, so bolting in will be no prob. i do think that the ratio is the same.

If you do decide to ignore Mopar Performance and install these on either a 5.2 or 5.9 V8, and if you decided to continue after laying them side by side with the factory Magnum V8 rockers, then be sure to do a measurement on them once they are mounted;
Place a dial indicator directly over the rocker end where the pushrod touches it.
Place a second dial indicator directly over the rocker end where the valve stem tip touches it.
Turn the engine crank and cycle the valve on the cylinder with the dial indicators.
The ratio of the two measurements is the 'true' ratio
no matter what is written on the boxes.
I believe you are going to find that the ratio of 1.7 Viper rockers on a Magnum V8 head is not what you want, and that the 'wipe pad' of the Viper rocker arm does not line up over the valve stem tip center.
Before spending the money be sure you can return the Viper rockers for a refund.
