guys help me with this
ive asked this about 4 other places but no one seams to be any help. my girls 04 grand cherokee desided today that it wants to get its windows stuck in the down position. she said the fuse is fine so idk where to start.im guessing a relay or bad contacts or something. she was cleaning it today and so maybe she got something wet with cleaner. idk havent seen it yet but its 20 degrees outside and this blows. where how should i start looking. damn heep lol
I have had this problem a few times...sometimes its the switch or the motor.... I usually start looking at the switchfirst because its the easiest.I try and hook 12V's up to the motor ifthe motor moves then it's somewhere else and at least you can get the window up for the time being. If the cable is broken as TPS saidI think you will probably hear the motor working.
the motor and regulator are one assembly and can not be bought alone. if it frezes a lot where you are from she prob try to use window when it was froze and caused the cable to break and the window came down thats what happens most of the time. I probally sell 2-3 of those regulators a week...
I had a similar thing happen in my old grand am. It ended up being the the two brackets that actually hold the window to the cable were cheap plastic that broke. I could still hear the motor working, so if she can't, this isn't the same thing. However, a lot of the GM and Chrysler vehicles used this same set-up in order to save costs. I actually ended up just pulling the assembly and gluing it all back together with some pretty heavy duty stuff. Worked like a charm.
from what i know its an electical problem as none of the windows work. she should be getting home tonight so ill see.

did you figure this out?
she probably checked the fuses under the dash or whereever they are in the jeep. but there's ususally another fuse/relay box under the hoof that handles either a fuse or a relay for all the power windows. i would definitely check that.

I think you're looking at a relay issue, get a manual and locate the one that's responsible for this, likely it's in that box under the hood, usually along the driver's side but get the Haynes manual.
