If the tint is legal, you do not have to fix it, it should pass inspection. But i never have had any problems with my truck and cops. Mine is not lifted yet, just loud. And i worked for the town DPW in the summer, which is in the same parking lot as the police station and never got spoken too about the sound level.

 

Yeah if the tint is legal why do you have to remove it? So you are saying your factory rear windows are what failed not your front ones? I don't think you can remove the factory tint on the rear. I don't know what the MD laws are but in VA on a truck you can go as dark as you want on the back windows and I think 50% on the front two. I'll have to look up MD's laws. Also I'd look for a new shop if you do $100 is way extreme. The local shop here told me $15 per window to remove tint and they are known for doing excellent work but being a little expensive. If you are selling it why put fender flares on? I'd just leave it like that and sell it. I wouldn't put fender flares on either as I think they are kind of ugly on these trucks. I'd just pay the fine.

 

I looked and it says MPV's are any on the back in MD but it then says pick up trucks arn't considered MPV's. I always thought they were here. Atleast the tint shop told me on trucks, vans, and SUV's you could go as dark as you wanted on the back. I guess not.

 

It's extreme for a tag vilolation, but not for not paying a citation if one was issued. That's just what they do. Even if they don't issue a bench warrant, they'll send youa letter at least letting you know you haven't payed it.

 

i hate it for ya that you got the ticket.the tint law here in ga. just elasped and hell if i wanted to spray paint my windows black i could. you could always have your windows rolled down so the cops can't see your tint (a/c sucks gas anyway) butzique was right about the officer and your safety. you know haw many times i heara cop had his weapon ready because he couldn't see in a vehicle or this guy reached for something shiny/black/weapon like? i always have a gun on me and i let any officer know right away about it. i don't need any lead in my diet. hell idon't have any tint on any of my windows. can't see out it at dark in a field toowell and my truck works and takes me where there are no street lights.

 

as soon as I purchase my new rims, my tires will be sticking about 1-2" out.

as for front tag, put it onto the dash against the windshield over the VIN, front tag, and legal.

 

I've heard you can get a ticket still for the plate in the windshield. I've heard it is supposed to be in the center of the bumper but I don't know how true this is.

 

That's crazy! I've had 5% on my truck for 6yrs and never been pulled over! I can hardly see out of it at night, i'm always having to crack the window. It was sooo hot in Oklahoma though that you really needed it just to keep the cab of the truck from melting on those 110 degree days. I got pulled over once for "riding to close to the center line" only because the lane wasn't wide enough for my truck, but somehow I just got a warning...Sorry you gotta dish all that dough out! I feel your pain!

 

you can have as dark of tint as you want in the back windows.. but the front can only be 35%.. i know my tint is legal.. i want to just sell it but i need to get it to pass inspection 1st before i can.. the tag citation is just stupid but what can you do?

 

Man I have lived in western md for 17 yrs. Dealt with the tint issues.Dealt with the tire issue. I flat out refused to drill any holes in the front bumper of my brand new Liberty Renagade, cost me $120 for 2 seperate tickets too..To get your tint checked take it to the M.V.A. and they will certifiey it and give you a little sticker that says u are a good person and that u obey the man.. I am curious to know what town this was in.....Frostburg mabye???? O hell I live in FL now....I think every truck here has its tires sticking out and the tint as dark as the Ace of Spades, dont need front tags either.....
