Not sure how dodge does it... but, 6/96 would be the end of the production year for GM 96 trucks.... getting ready for changeover to start producing the 97's.
My DOM is 1/96... so, potentially a 'mid production year change'..... Guess the only way to be sure, would be to check the trans, and see if it has all the connectors for the "RE" model......

Thanks so much for the replies, you really set my mind at ease.
For those that have not put 2 & 2 together i crashed my 96 ram recently
If you check some of my older posts you will see i was restoring it and put a ton of money/work into it and i just cant junk it. I smashed up the front end which caused some frame damage (need i say more) and cracked the engine block, so besides cosmetic (which i would fix) there are some mechanical issues that will just cost way more then the insurance company will be giving me. Its a 96 and they will total cars for the smallest issues if they are that old, my initial plan was to buy it back and fix it of coarse. After having a few guys come and look at it the unanimous decision has been made that its just not fixable (anything is fixable) for the money i will have. One guys says he can pull the frame, one says i need a whole new frame. Gahhh.
So im still buying it back and im going to salvage as many parts and transfer them to a new dodge ram again most are cosmetic after market parts that make it look sexy. I went with a 98 so its 2 years newer but everything else is the same.
I will check to see if the transmissions will work, if not then im sure someone will buy it, its rebuilt and only a few years old as my tranny went in my 96 and i had to replace it. I feel a bit better that i got this truck and will be able to salvage most of my stuff but nothing will really replace my truck. Very sad.
Does anyone know if my exhaust would fit too? Its a dual setup so im just wondering if the pipe bends will match up, just from the cat back that is.
