I'm aiming for LEED certification in the near future. Surprise your company doesn't do geotech in house, but you probably sub contract that out. You have your PE yet, just wondering?
I did a little of Roadway/Transportation Evaluation and Construction Inspection during my college years. I never really got involved with surveying even though I have an A.S. in Surveying Technologies because I wanted to be somewhat versed in it, plus it leaves me that door to go into if needed. We did/do sub out most of our Geo until now, we just hired on a Geo Engineer that is going to be building a section and client base. What I meant by the smaller projects too, is the company I work for just implemented a unit that is aimed towards the local Pa DOT projects. It is gearing up to gain some of the small scale things within the area. I don't have my P.E. yet, I have some more time before I am eligible. I do have my E.I.T. though.

Fire Prevention/Security Officer for Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs. Been here for over eight years now. Before that, I built roof trusses and did glass work for five years.
For all of you builders and engineers and contractors and computer gurus, keep up the good work. For all of those in the military, thank you for letting the rest of us be safe enough to live free and pursue our careers/livelyhoods.

I kinda wanna be Billy. I just ship refrigerators, which feels like it's lost points on the Man card after seeing those pics. I've been a CNC machinist, I've done ultrasonic thickness testing in refineries, I've tried my hand at flipping real estate.

Nah man, its not all fun and games, the traveling gets old after awhile. Lately I have been lucky and have been home more then normal. Some days I would prefer a normal, non traveling job, which is why I am hoping the local unit gets rolling like I stated a few posts back I have done the ultrasonic D-meter testing, pretty cool little machine, some of the guys here do pinn testing with a UT machine to fine cracks, defects etc in bridge pins. I dont think any job makes you less of a man, its better then some of the able-bodied slobs sitting at home collecting because they are lazy...

Good to see what everyone does on here. A lot of you have some really cool jobs.

I am a client relations manager for a Software company that creates web-based telehealth solutions. I work with senior and executive management of large hospital organizations to develop strategies for strengthening their hold on the market as well as train physicians, nurses, and hospital administrators how to use our products.

I work in oil. More specifically, I load/unload bulk tankers and railcars. On overtime and covering others in my dept, I also make the oil, though my main job is the truckhouse.
