Default Programmer question

Maybe one of guys can answer this.

Can I use my Superchips 3865 to read & clear diagnostic codes on a vehicle it's not designed for, a Mazda 3?

I also have a SCT X3 programmer for my Ford, how about that one?

Per my understanding you can only read codes for vehicles that the programmer could program.

This would involve setting your truck back to stock first then setting it up in the new vehicle that is compatible with the programmer.

You can find universal code read/clear machines on eBay for pretty cheap, just make sure to read some reviews first.

I used the SCT X3 and it read and cleared the code no problem. I put my car back to stock before doing it just to be safe.

The tuner is specifically for Ford vehicles, but I guess since Ford and Mazda developed technology together for years, it was compatible.

You can use the SC to read and clear codes on any OBDII vehicle. Depending on the vehicle, it doesn't always display the code description but it will give you the code. Clearing works fine whether the tuner is locked or not. Follow the prompts on the screen and it will clear the codes.

Bobby is right. I read and cleared one on a Ram so I was unsure if it would read and clear on any vehicle but it does

I have both SCT and SC now, it's awesome I can stack tunes for trans tune and hemifevers tune. And 2 convenient ways to pull codes!

but the internet isn't real!!!

but seriously, thanks for the heads-up. looks like the 4.7 pcm doesn't like to be stacked... if I had a 5.7 pcm, it looks like there are less issues reported with stacking. but stacking the 4.7 seems hit or miss and I won't attempt it.
