a very sad update on my hemi beast
I appreciate all the support you guys had given me during my build, a lot of you stuck by for updates over the course of almost 2 years..
but uh, I wrecked the truck. It's not operable right now and the quote for repairs is $6000 minimum..
Damage consists of 4 heavily damaged wheels, one shredded tire, massive passenger bedside damage, shattered tail light, bent axle shaft drivers side, collapsed strut drivers side, bumper frame mounts misaligned, bumper cover mashed into drivers side fender, there are other possible front suspension damages and the guide pins on axle are probably severed as ubolts are cocked sideways.. passenger side axle shaft probably bent as well.
I can't explain how I didn't roll the truck when I slid off I-44 at 70mph into a very deep ditch, and some how managed to drive out of the ditch with some remaining momentum.
I'm also not sure how the bedside damage occurred. There were no obstacles... it's possible that my wheel shoveled up so much mass of dirt and rocks that the weight of it buckled the bed side, or... the truck was so far sideways that it made contact with the bank of the ditch.
That being said. I know pictures are in order.. It doesn't look as bad as it sounds, but it's pretty much all bad.. My roll pan made it out unscathed though, which I'm pretty glad.

Probably repair if the frame checks out and there aren't additional damages to the strut towers and control arm mounting points. I may even buy it back if they want to total it, if Missouri allows it. Also I'm looking forward to a new coat of paint... The hood, drivers side fender, drivers door, and rear passenger bedside will have minor body work and a respray due to the numerous huge stones that flew up while the truck carved it's path. It's just all going to be a huge hassle at this point..
Having totaled a Dakota and come out the other side, the fact that you are able to type is a good thing. Metal and plastic and glass and rubber can be replaced! Pull all of the HEMI stuff and cram it in another roller!
F*ck, I'm glad you are ok. Trucks can be replaced, your life is what is important. I'd say the man up-stairs wanted you around a bit longer. Sorry to hear about the Hemi-Dak fumble. You put some hard hours and integrity into that truck...and we are all wanting what you have, Lol. Is the engine ok?

Here are the pictures. I didn't show the dent in the hood or side of the door that where made by flying debris. It doesn't look tooooo.... bad... I guess. I will say, the truck held together well considering it was thrown through a deep *** ditch sideways at 70 mph.

That should just buff out! Seriously, I think it should be fixable if the frame is straight.
