I hate to see a VW at 435K miles. The interior, the seats, the dash, the fogged up headlights, the falling apart body. It is not just the engine that makes a car.

 

You are right, everything wears so fast. Wish the quality was much better.

 

You are somewhat right. No falling apart body, headlights are real glass. There is a broken piece of plastic on the dash. I had to get the drivers seat refoamed last year. 10 year old window tint is peeling off. Paint is cracking Definitely no spring chicken but still goes.

Anyway, bought a 2014 Jetta TDI today. the 1998 is going to my son since trade in value was < 1000.
