You need to anchor it somehow. I used L brackets for my box. Screw them into the box and into the floor of the truck. Last thing you need is for that box to become a projectile during an accident...

JL Audio huh? great choice, i miss my jl's...havent really been following this thread...looks like a 10w3 maybe? either way, if u can, it needs to be anchored down. here is a pic from my ram i had. it was a reg cab, the box extended from one side of the truck to the other...2 12w3v2's and the jl 500 watt amp. sounded great, im glad i didnt get the 1000 w amp, in theat small cab, it definately didnt need it. got ports on both sides, and yes, it was chambered for each individual sub. if i were u, just mount it do the floor, i didnt have to mount mine because it cannot be taken out without taking all of my seats out first. but i did drill a hole in the floor, to run the wires through. it was no biggie, u can partially see wires in the first pic, they go straight into the ground there....right under the amp...one recomendation though, definately get a grill gaurd like mine, you will thank me in the long run...i would have had to buy new subs multiple times if i did not have one...u can see the dents in my grill guards, id rather have that than holes in my sub

i also had dynamat in my ram, you shouldnt need a heatgun, i didnt anyway, but it was about 90 out when i installed it.....how much dynamat did u buy? just enough to do the doors or what? you only do the doors and yes, u will notice a difference. there was actually just a thread about sound deadening stuff. dynamat actually came out on the low end and was more expensive than most. dynamat ultra came out in great standings, but using dynamat ultra, u can spend thousands to do your car...i plan on ordering RaamAudio's sound deadener this summer and doing my whole cab. its cheaper than dynamat, (which i used before and liked) but supposed to be better....frenchy used it...
