Default 08 Dak's

This is probably a dumb question, but I'm still learning about engines and modding them. I was planning on getting an 08 Dak with the improved 4.7, and i was wondering if the mods for the older gen III 4.7 engines (things like CAI's, cams, headers, ect.)would still work with the new 4.7, and if not how long would you think it would take for companies to start producing them? I'm just really excited about the new trucks and can't wait for mine and to start building it up.

not to sure about the intakes but for exhaust go and get a nice set of mufflers and have a shop bend and hang the pipe. alot cheaper than a pre fabbed kit.

It's hard to say. I've heard different things about the CAI. But since people are making them at home, you shouldn't have any issues. If anything else, try getting one foran 07 and see what happens.

i'd say internals will be different.

considering the whole engine is being revamped...

time frame? maybe a year - 8 years.

Still with the new improved 4.7 you'll be way ahead of the old 4.7 performance wise. It cost big bucks to get the old 4.7 up to that level. The CAI for the old might work, if not that's usually one of the first things you'll see out for it. I kind of wonder about headers, what the new 4.7 has 3 valves per cylinder I'd be surprised if the old headers will fit. Sounds like the new 4.7 might be a real butt kicker.

I forget... are they offering the 3.7 V6 for the 08...and if so are they making any changes to that engine?

Yup. No changes to it, either.
