... Well IMO I don't like any computer Hardware companies... they're all rip-offs... I like the ability to put EXACTLY what I want in my computer... as far as OSX goes its not a bad OS at all and I can see why you'd prefer OSX to Windows Vista... personally I don't have a very high opinion of Vista...

but I'm switching jobs soon to be a computer tech at OU which alot of their faculty use Vista or OSX...and where I'm at now everyone uses 98 or XP... in fact we just started upgrading the district a year ago to XP...

So maybe my Opinions will change about Vista when I start working with it more... it just takes so much RAM to run it smoothly and still have the comp move fast...

If you know a little bit you can tweak it and get it to run much better, although I'd really say you want 2gigs of RAM for smooth operation with a good bit of programs open. It is pretty slow and clunky out of the box, you almost have to know enough to tweak the system and change things around to get a good experience with Windows. That's OSX's biggest advantage, for an end-user who is new to computers or doesn't want to mess with them much Mac is definitely a better choice, if only they'd open it up for easy install on any hardware...

Yeah I know this is the only thing that has stopped me from doing any more computer upgrades... especially buying a new laptop... takes too much ram.... I've been kicking around the idea of getting a decent Hp laptop and just taking erasing the Hard Drive and installing XP Pro on it or XP Home... That way I can use an OS I like and still keep RAM usage down...

Well Vista uses the RAM differently than previous Windows versions so don't just go by the apparent memory usage of it, once you tweak it a little it's almost as fast as XP (granted aero glass will slow you down a little if you have that on but it is pretty ).

RAM is cheap nowadays anyway, check out Toshiba laptops, I've had very good luck with them and what you get for the price is better than most of the laptops out there. My dad has a Toshiba satellite with vista ultimate on it and 2gigs of ram (bought it with 512 then bought the ram from Newegg and put it in, cheaper that way) and it runs great. Feel free to hit me up on AIM if you want to ask me anything about it (I always have an away up, doesn't mean I'm not there).

Any mac using Intel processors can use boot camp, which is all of the new ones now I believe. As I said earlier, they're just a PC, the only thing different is OS X
