I was told by the owner of a Dodge/Jeep dealership that Dodge was going to stop building the Dakota after 2008. Does anyone have any info on this? Are they replacing it with another mid-sized truck?

Idk, I can't see them making a new front end, and new engine for it, and then stop.

Kinda be a complete waste of investment, if you ask me.

I heard that the 09 will be last Dak but another mid size will be introduced based on one of the proto types like the Rampage.

I'm not making a rumor, I'm just stating it'd be totally retarded to build up a newly designed truck, and put a new motor in it, then get rid of it.

well, joe that is an opinion, and a very logical opinion in which i agree with you 100%. rmudbugs, info can be misconstrued between dealerships and company headquarters, but on the other hand, i loved knowing about caravelles new 267ls bow rider a year before the public knew anything

yeah...i'd agree with Joe, that'd be completely stupid and a waste. Although if they replaced it with a new midsized truck, wouldn't it just yeah be the Dakota with a different look and name!? Maybe if they do get rid of the Dakota, come out with a completely new midsized truck, they'll think it through and make it 10x better, new mechanical stuff, better suspension, off road capability, you never know.
