Not a bad idea if you don't need to use your rear seats. Or at least not use them often.
I'd be MUCH more interested in a sub enclosure for under my rear seats like you can get for the 2nd gen Dakotas.

Thats my guess. Seems like a decent idea, but what would you really do with them? maybe store tools or something?

Yes they snap into a holder to secure them while driving. They aslo fold flat so the seat can be lowerd when they are not needed. Lastly they just unsnap to haul them in the house with whatever you choose to load in them.
