poor gas mielage
I'm sure this comes up alot now, but I really don't know whats left. after a recent 500 mile trip highway driving at average 75 mph I'm getting 16 mpg. I changed out the sparkplugs right before to autolight copper ones, I have k&n filter which I clean, tires are inflated to about 35-37 psi. What else can I do, I have a 06 SLT with 27000 miles

thats the problem, 75 mph. for every mph you go over the speed limit you loose alot of gas. i went and saw joe in new jersy from ct and it was about a 500 mile round trip. filled up the night before and no issue keeping truck at 65 mph with the a/c on. all highway traffic and did not have to stop and fill up. i got a good 20/21 miles to the gallon even with the 4.10 gears. its all about how steady you drive, and keep in the same lane as possible, swerving in and out of traffic is not a good gas saver either. also i run the 93/94 octane because of the upgrades. try switching octanes. to fill up the truck between 87 and 93 is only gonna cost an extra 4 dollars. the lower the octane the faster burning the fuel is, which is good for the import junks but the higher the octane the slower it burns, getting better mileage and better power.

yeah, aside from driving habits... removing accessories from engine power would theoretically help. An electric fan would be a good start. Also switching from Dino Oil to Synthetic could net you an increase as well...
More power = a more efficient performing engine... and efficiency = MPGs....

There was a whole thread about this earlier:

Try some of the tips there, if possible.

We all know there are a lot of factors that play into mpg's. I have the auto trans 4x4. The only engine mod I did was add a k&n drop in filter and mobil 1 full synthetic oil. I also use some hypermiling technics. I coast down hills and try not to brake too hard.
