Outside Air Intake Question
too many words, so im posting my advice...
Get a cone filter...
If you have fog lights, remove them...
place a filter in the passenger side opening, but cover it with a waterproof, but breathable cover...
then run abs plastic up to throttle body, but somewhere in there, put a filter in there that would absorb any potential water that will get sucked up through the filter, and voila
Cold air intake.

Just on the passenger side.
I am getting a junk fender from a scrap yard and a guy I know who does louvers in sheet metal is going to use a die and see if we can make a NACA duct in the topside of the fender.
It may stretch to the point of splitting, so then we will know that route won't work. Then we will cut it out and weld in a metal one.
Still in the designing phase at this point.

Lots of looking at the way the air flows over the fender is in order. I actually took the truck out in the rain and got it dirty. Did this so I can study the "dirt pattern" and how it flows over the fender. I'm no expert, but it looks like the flow may be in my favor. This was over the summer, so I must repeat this test again.
That just sounds soooo wrong. lol

It is a very interesting idea.
I tossed around something similar, but for a different purpose. (Brake ducting)
I tossed mine out, as it is simple to just get dimpled rotors to help with off gassing and heat.
once you get into it, I am interested in finding out how you run your "ducting" in the narrow passage of the fender. Having cool air is the goal of my hood scoop mod. yours is probably going to have better temp results, since I am not going to be able to fully seal the filter due to the threat of water.
