possible tranny prob
I have an 07 Dak QC/SLT 4x2 6 cyl. I have owned this truck for almost a year and a half...not the original owner. I have an intermittant problem with the truck when accelerating. At around 42 mph, sometimes there is a slight shudder (kind of like running ove those little warning ribs on the side of the road) but not as pronounced. The truck will tach at 2 1/2 (usually never makes 2 except when this is happening) and when it finally changed gears, it gives a little 'kick', just enough to barely nod your head. There is no engine light at all but I'm not sure there would be for the transmission. The truck has 34300 miles on it and I would like to catch this before warranty runs out at 36000.
Like I said, it's not often. Even more rarely, it will do the same in other gear shifts. The dealer here always claims "no engine light, no problems." Is there anything I can say to the dealer that will have them take this seriously?
While at the dealer, I will also have the drivers' seatbelt fixed and the A/C coolant checked since sometimes the A/C will suddenly and noticibly blow warm. Not good in Florida!
Thanks for your help!

Torque converter issue? I've read they can lock and unlock so rapidly the truck will shudder or vibrate. Definitely something to get checked out before warranty is up. A full flush and filter might be in order as well.
I'll make the appointment to get it looked at. Did you read about the torque converter problems on this site or else where? (so I can read up on it and not sound like such a total idiot when the truck goes in.) Thanks again for your help! It's much appreciated!

Well a 3G Ram guy had an incessant vibration issue, around 35-45 MPH. It went away every time they reset the PCM or replaced the converter, only to come back. The conclusion was his driving style was confusing the PCM. Maybe before you take it to the shop you could pull the battery for 20 mins or whatever it takes to reset the computer, and then take it out for a drive.
I can't speak from experience though, I drive a stick

This is something i've overlooked, I've been chasing a vibration from 35-50 for the past few months. Was planning on another dealer visit soon... thought i could live with it, but it really gets annoying.
I finally had enough time off work to take my Dak in for the vibration problem. It was pretty slight so I was able to wait since there was no engine code. Anyway, Dodge diagnosed the problem and found it is the torque converter and a new one is on order. I picked the truck up this afternoon and brought it home since I hate leaving anything at the dealership for longer than it has to be there. (vehicles have been broken into there) When the parts come in, they'll call and back I go.
Just as a point of interest, did you know that in order to replace the a/c vents inside the truck, they have to replace the whole dash fascia assembly? That includes the instrument panel and bezel. I couldn't believe they can't order just the vents. All that expense over broken louvers in the vents....geeze. Yep, that's on order too.
Just wanted to update in case others are having the same problem.

It took a little over 2 weeks for the new torque converter to come in. At the same time, they had ordered a dash panel to replace the AC vents on both sides by doors. Took truck in and had to leave it for 3 days. Got it back. They had fixed the torque converter and only fixed one side vent. Actually they never replaced the dash...I can tell they just dug around in the vents and snapped the little louvers and internal pieces back in place. It didn't work on the other side and they broke it pretty bad as well as drilled a small hole in the dash beside it. Now they are ordering the dash...again. They brought it to me, AC off and all 4 windows down. Strange. Usually the windows are up and AC running to cool it off as a courtesy in Florida heat but I left the windows down as I drove down the road a couple miles. I then rolled them up and turned on the AC. And then I could SMELL it. Very musty/moldy. (it still smelled new when it got there...we don't smoke or eat in it.) I was almost home and didn't go back that day but I did call after finding the carpet wet under the mats. I pulled the mats out, wet vac and Febreezed it, then called Dodge. They promised to fix it (they think the tech screwed something up when he was fixing the one AC vent) when it goes back in for the other vent.
So now I am driving a truck that STINKS, has a hole drilled in the dash, and a week and half later (and only 500 miles away from the end of warranty) the d***** truck has got the same shudder but now it's in 2 gears. And the funny thing is, last time I pulled in to the service area, a new car salesman came running up before I even got my foot out and wanted me to trade it! Is that a sign??
Yes, I called Dodge about the shudder coming back. I'm not even going into what I said the the guy after all this. It goes back in AGAIN on Tuesday next week. I can't afford to rent anymore cars so I guess they are just going to have to give me a courtesy ride back to my house...which is 20 miles away or I guess I will have to sleep in the Dak while it's there. Does anyone else know of torque converter probs in these 6 cyl Dak automatics? I'm wondering if I need to get out of this truck...can't afford tranny probs that happen this much.
Thanks

That dealer sounds like a real piece of work. Take it back and tell them to fix it, and how about a nice loaner '09 Ram in the meantime? I mean, what makes them think they can get away with returning your truck in that state? Not fixed is one thing, worse than before is bullsht.

umm, let me just get this straight...
Your dealer took your truck for 3 days.
Only replaced the converted and played around with the dash?
That took them 3 days?
Plus it came back with a hole in the dash, (get pics of that by the way... and make sure the date is showing on the camera... incase this gets nasty) and the AC smells bad?
I would start calling Chrysler and demanding a regional service rep see's this... I wouldnt let that dealer touch my truck till they had that rep there... if that means not driving it to keep it at 35,xxx miles, then I guess that sucks.

Thats rough! I really hope they get you straight. Make sure they put a different tech on it next time. The only thing these people understand is a pissed off customer that is drawing unwanted attention, or a letter from a lawyer.
