Help me!!!
In about a month i will be driving from NY to TX. lately my truck has been overheating especially on hills with my AC on. is anyone else having this problem? the only mods i have are a k&n filter intake and dual magnaflows. what should i do??
Definitely give that a whirl. Also check to make sure nothing is blocking your radiator, make sure none of your hoses are kinked, check out your water pump, make sure it's not leaking or anything. I believe when our thermostats fail, they do so in the open position, so unless it's barely opening, or stuck somehow, it shouldn't be that. Check it out anyways. Hopefully it's something small.

That just means there is more of a load on the engine. I would think if you tried to haul something it would do the same thing.

I agree,
lets try to break this down, in terms of probable causes...
A failing water pump could have a reduced flow rate. It could flow enough to keep the motor cool under a normal load, but not enough to take care of the additional load of AC or towing...
A build up of "gunk" in the radiator. Similar description and water pump.
Other than that, I cant really think of an intermittent issue with a stat. I guess a kinked hose could, but I have pulled those suckers off, and I honestly dont think they would just kink off... it was hard enough to bend them into the proper position...
