Alright guys, The SPAL controller arrived today. This weekend will be the Taurus fan install and clutch fan delete. Looking for any lessons learned and pointers before I start taking stuff apart and rewiring. I've read over Studly's DIY write up.
I'm using the SPAL FAN-PWM, 30amp draw and activates with A/C. The Taurus fan pushes 4500 CFM on high and 2500 CFM on low.

Looking at the wiring diagram I only see one T-splice, and that is for the water temp sensor. I had to T into 12 different sensors for the split second, lol. I always asked for lessons learned before undertaking any project.

I think joe is using the pull throughs.
Eric, would you be able to post up a pic of your bracket? I want to do the E-fan as well, but don't like the pull through's. I was going to fab up something, so yours might give me some ideas. Thanks.Originally Posted by ericemery
the only real issue is mounting, most just use the pull through mounting ties. I made a metal bracket...I think joe is using the pull throughs.

I used pull throughs. There's a lip at the bottom of the radiator that the fan can rest on. Once it sits on that the pull throughs will keep it from shifting rather than just hold the weight. Since the taurus fan isn't universal there'd be more of a challenge to make a bracket.
Did you test High mode on that thing yet? I don't need it on my truck but will use it on my jeep. I remember how freakin insane it is tho. I'm sure it'd make one awesome improvement for the A/C.
Frenchy, are you using High?

Oh, Blown, are you going to wire into the low or high? Low is pretty decent on it's own and I don't know if the Spal could handle the 80+ amp draw. I'm sure I mentioned it in the write up but just makin sure. I always figured if I wanted it I could wire in a switch for High.
I'm planning on wiring both, high and low. I'm going to program low for normal operating tems and high for anything above 185. Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the high setting was a 30amp draw?
I have the exact same SPAL control unit you used in your write up.
